Refurbished Turbochargers

JMTC Turbocharger rebuilds get a complete overhaul including cleaning and/or replacement of all internal components that could have been worn or damaged due to mechanical issues with the engine or exhaust system.  Such items that can be damaged are Turbine Shaft Bearings, Thrust bearings, pressure seals, cartridge, or end housings.  Any components that do not meet our stringent standards will be replaced.  Some parts that are damaged beyond repair may be replaced with quality JMTC manufactured parts but will retain JMTC's full warranty.

Refurbished turbos do not come with a wastegate actuator. If you need a wastegate actuator select the new Turbo or purchase a new wastegate actuator. 

Although the refurbished units are thoroughly cleaned, if you are concerned with superficial cosmetic scratches, dents, and other imperfections from previous use, choose the new units.

EXTREME STREET TURBO UPGRADE

The JMTCs Super S turbocharger was designed with the street and track enthusiast in mind.  We started with our huge 50mm compressor and upgraded 9-blade lightened high flow turbine to give you full boost quick and a huge amount of power at the top end.  We also designed it to maintain the quick response of the original turbo, deliver much more torque and power (as much as 100 hp, more with other upgrades!)

This turbocharger not only delivers high torque in the low to mid-range but you will also see a power increase at higher RPM.  No torque or power loss like you see with the original small 43mm turbo. If you are looking for a great street, track, or strip upgrade that delivers full race performance this is the turbo for you.  

Customers have seen around 60hp gain with minimum upgrades, and 100hp with more. These are 'approximate' gains and your results may vary.

In other words, don't make the mistake of listening to your friend that has a turbo on his car, mechanic that installed a turbo once, and /or the salesperson that sold you the turbo said it would be ok. We (JMTC) are telling you that it will not! They also will not be reimbursing you the cost to re-install or refurbish the turbo due to their bad advice. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES INSTALL THIS TURBO ON A CAR WITH AN EXHAUST SMALLER AT ANY POINT THAT 3 INCHES!!!!!!!!!!! This means any and all portion/s of the exhaust, you cannot have a 2.5” downpipe and 3” exhaust, a 3” downpipe and 2.5” exhaust, or a connection point that goes from 3' to 2.5” and back to 3”, The exhaust needs to be 3” from the turbo to the tip - no exceptions!

Installation Notes:

  • If you are replacing a failed turbo, correct any and all issues that contributed to the failure of the turbo.
  • Prime the Turbo when installing
  • Perform an oil change just before servicing the turbo, and again shortly after.
  • Do not re-use an old Oil Supply Line - install a NEW line!
  • Refurbish or replace the catalytic converter to eliminate any unusual back pressure built up from years and miles of contamination.  This is especially important if you've had a catastrophic turbo failure that dumped oil into the exhaust. Unusual backpressure will severely shorten the life of any new turbo.
  • We recommend oil changes at around 5k miles interval to keep the oil fresh.
  • Let the engine idle for a couple minutes after a long or hard drive to cool the turbo and prevent the oil from coking in the bearings.
  • ECU Tuning is not required but will allow the turbo and engine to reach their full potential.

Turbo Replacement

Refurbished Turbocharger from Mitsubishi OEM original manufacture.  Guaranteed exact fit replacement for the original turbocharger that came in your MINI. Please make sure to check the engine type before ordering - there are 2 engine types with the same name and this turbo only fits the engine with the 2 port head.

If the new actuator is retain/used, the vehicle will need to be taken to the dealer or a shop with the BMW tools to have the wastegate learning done. Otherwise, dash will display a check engine light or service engine light.
