The KONI FSD's revolutionary technology was designed and patented by KONI to end the compromise between comfort and road-holding. These shocks automatically adjust to road conditions as well as driving style, delivering greater stability and control - and therefore greater driving pleasure.

KONI Golds with FSD technology will transform your MINI Cooper into a smoother riding daily driver while also enhancing suspension performance. The groundbreaking FSD technology has been designed and patented by KONI to end the compromise between comfort and road-holding. This new feature can be used as an integrated part of the hydraulic valving system inside the damper. Consequently no additional cables, sensors, or any other electronic devices are needed to operate this system.

Two characteristics that seemed diametrically- opposed, proved to be a source of inspiration for specialists from KONI. Following lengthy development and testing, the ultimate solution was reached: KONI FSD - Frequency Selective Damping.

A revolutionary new technique whereby the benefits of both types of ride characteristics are combined in one perfect shock absorber. Banishing the disadvantages of the past. FSD shock absorbers; a smart suspension system adjusting automatically to road conditions as well as driving style. And all of this in a fraction of a second. FSD guarantees greater stability, greater control and thus greater driving pleasure.

KONI reconfirms with the FSD innovation a leading position as innovative supplier of high-quality shock absorber products.

"FSD kit must be used with stock suspension." Direct replacement for stock shocks. Although KONI offers a FSD and Eibach Springs kit for some applications, that combination is not approved for this application.

Here is a report (01/06/2010) from a 2010 Clubman S owner:

I changed them out yesterday and can now give you a full report: these things are very superior to the Mini stock shocks/struts.

Wow.

First of all, the ride: major improvement -- I'm not exaggerating here. I'm not getting rattled as much over bumps, holes, and ridges, and I can drive faster and more confidently over rougher roads -- it's really a noticeable and welcome difference. It's still very firm, don't get me wrong, just more forgiving on the rough stuff.

The handling: it feels a little more "aggressive" entering a turn, which is cool. When accelerating really fast -- either straight from a stop or out of a turn -- the front wheels don't jump around as much as they used to. I feel like I'm in greater control. It still hugs the road like a champ and I just feel more confident. The only minor tradeoff is that it doesn't quite have the same slot car "feel" - but it's a subtle difference in that regard, and so worth it to me for the big improvement in other areas. It drives a bit more like a tightly tuned BMW now.

If you have some extra dough laying around and want to improve both the ride and the overall handling, do yourself a favor and slap these Koni FSDs on.
