To Mal's point.  Check the basics:

Do you have fuel pressure going INTO the throttle body?  ( crack one of the hardlines loose at the throttle manifold and turn the key on) fuel should spray if the pump is pumping.

Do you have spark?   (ground a plug on the engine and Crank)  should see spark.

Then its a matter of IS the injector firing fuel ?( this is where you spray carb cleaner or starting fluid into the throttle body while cranking and see if it tries to run.

Has the Immobiizer been reset? Keyfob Reset?

Goodluck

First I'd look for something that got accidentally disconnected with a hand squeezing in there. The SPI's don't have a lot of room for big hands.

You said it tries to start, so I assume that means it is turning over and an occasional firing cylinder. That would be a good sign - maybe the green connector under the air filter. That always comes off.

Hopefully it isn't what mine was, which was a burned out diode in the ECU. Fortunately I found a guy with a home-made wall full of circuits and lights that fixes car computers.

Try some starting fluid if it fires up your fuel pump or fuel pump relay may be bad.

If you do replace or inspect the vacuum lines, the vacuum line from the ECU to the fuel trap was the most difficult for me.  I had just enough room to get my hand down there and feel the connector with a finger tip but zero room to really do anything useful.  My wife had to help me with that one since she has small hands.

Read through my "JDM SPI Cranks, Wont Start" thread to get more ideas for things to check.  My fix was a burnt solder joint inside the relay box.  I re-soldered the connection and the car runs great again.

Start by checking all the vacuum lines especially the elbows on the ends there are around 8 of them if one is bad replace them all. Then make sure the fuel trap is clear and not full of gas. You have to have a good vacuum signal to the computer to make an SPI run without it it will be rich and foul out the plugs.

Hello everyone,

I'm sorry if this have been posted before,

In past couple of days, my mini started shutting off on idle (in traffic light or parking), yesterday I changed the throttle cable which was a bit challenging job on this model compared to carb, however, I'll tell you exactly what've done:

- I have removed the spark plugs lead,
- I removed the air filter (the hole thing out of the way)
- Tried so hard to reach the hole where I have to put the new wire, so I might have did something wrong in one of the connectors out there,
- Disconnected one of the rubber hoes which leaked some coolant water from engine, did not fill it again and reconnected the hoe again,

When finished installing the new throttle cable, the car did not start at all, it's trying to but it's not starting, I don't know if I did something wrong or the shutting down happened couple of days ago endicates that I have a bad fuel pump or something else,

Please help, thanks,
