He is Al

As a matter of fact, last year I bought his wife's old house next door to me.  Had coffee a few times with them.  His Mother-in-law still stops by to visit

Back to MINIs....

In Saskatchewan can you visit your grandparents and wave bye-bye for three hours when you leave.

Maybe in the South Ron.....south of Saskatoon, but up here we have bush, hills, lakes and turns...lol

Hmmm

That was a bit of a blur for me.(No, not too much Red Stripe)
Had a puncture to my abdomen.  Picked up a wicked infection.
Became delirious and was hallucinating.  I knew what I was seeing wasn't actually there.
Several COMO and OMO members had to help me to a car.
Was wheelchaired into the ER.
I was able to walk out after a shot and antibiotics.
I learned not to wait to get better whilst on holiday.

So maybe if brain fog happens in 2019 Red Stripe might be involved.
Or cider from Alex.

At the MOTR club meet last night the topic of East Meets West came up.

Here we have a sample idea for an event poster created by hicountryfoto.

At the 2016 MMW in San Diego it was announced that we wanted to host the 2019 East Meets West.

Here at a little less that two years out we're trying to get serious about the planning.

We're looking to officially announce the event and dates at the close of next years MMW and MME.

Me, I'm just an FNG to classic Minis so I can't really contribute on the forum to anyone's tech questions so I'm just a lurker.

Went to MMEMW in Colorado Springs in 1999 - notable for 2 things, 1) it was my most expensive MM trip (Mini wasn't ready so took JEEP) - radiator, water pump, block heater, hoses - let go in Montana south of Billings on a Sunday afternoon...and...2) When my wife heard that MME 2000 was going to be in Quebec, she said let's go!  We did 7,500 miles round trip, one burnt exhaust valve (#3).

Next time in Colorado...

Was in Steamboat Springs on the main drag with an Ice Cream Cone, saw the truck & 5th wheel & bellowed RALPH!!!  All the heads in town swiveled...wife was scurrying to hide.  We hadn't seen the wife's parents since we split in Montana - we to go through Yellowstone & meet in Cody...the parents did NOT show up in Cody.  We headed south to Warm Springs, where my wife contacted the State Police...NO report on the Curry's, so we carried on to Colorado & into the Mountains near Estes Park.

Luckily we remembered the name of the Father-in-law's WWII shipmate and phoned, the response was RALPH WHO???  Seems F-in-law had not let his Buddy know he was coming.  Hiked in the mountains...then on spec phoned the WWI Buddy again.  "Glad you called back.  Have heard from Ralph, he's on his way."  Wife relieved her parents were alive.

Then the BELLOWING in Steamboat Springs...

Right after we pulled out from the RV park in Montana, the auto tranny in the F-in-law's Ford 350 4x4 blew...got back on the road 2 days later.  In the era where neither of us had a cell plan for the US, it was bound to unfold as it did.

A while ago I asked what the plan was for EMW and was told that Colorado was doing it. With spectacular roads, awesome towns and a history of THREE great EMWs run by Colorado mini folks, it is nice to know that great elements are coming together for the 60th.

Mini meets are best when they are in a great location, as opposed to a place chosen for its proximity. Steamboat Springs will be great. I look forward to what comes together.

As much as event planners have influence on a car meet, ultimately it comes down to what each person brings to the show every day that they are there.

The last MM EAST show we hosted in Ontario was in 1993 in Toronto,Ontario, it was put on by our MOOSO club, (Mini Owners of Southern Ontario)

Sadly that club folded because it was a one man club with no delegation, nothing has replaced it and with 75 minis that always show up at Bronte Brit Car Show (sept 17/2017) it seems strange that we can't get a new club organized

Obviously we are an example of the dying Brit car hobby

I think it's a fait accompli - but if you'd like to lay on a show Al, I'm sure folks would turn up.

I agree with Big AL, After all the years it has been in the USA it is time to move it into Canada.

Mur, It's your turn to vote.

In West Central Canada,East of Alberta and West of Manitoba

North of Minnesota

Free lodging in Prince Albert SK

And every time you spend a US Dollar the clerk will give you back 33 cents and say "SORRY"

Isn't Denver in the west somewhere?....thought it was usually more central

One hundred plus miles away from Denver where the first East/West was held in 1984.
