RIP, Joe. A fine man indeed.

I last caught up with him in Florida last February at Funshine Mini Fest. In the midst of his struggles and treatments which were ongoing and getting more intense, he regaled us with fascinating stories upon stories, smiling and laughing at each one. It was hard to fathom that he was battling so hard even then and that he was ready to try anything that might help him or help someone in the future. It was inspiring to have him there sharing his time with us. Like so many of the Miniacs that have passed in the last few years, he was a character with character and the community will miss him. Condolences to his family.

Joe was always helping execute the Spring Thing events. He was a part of that magic team. We always drove The Snake together despite the fact that his Mini had 4 times the horsepower of my Moke. When we were finished it was all high fives and grins like kids. I will miss this fine man. Mark

Sad to hear. I had the opportunity to own and race one of the Minis that Joe built some years back - the 1960 red car from this article:

Good Things Come In Small Packages

I LOVED that car and should have never sold it. I never met Joe in person, but he was always willing to answer questions and help troubleshoot on the car - even though I didn't buy it from him directly. He seemed like a great guy... and judging by the fun I had with that car, a helluva talented Mini builder.

R.I.P. Joe.

I count myself lucky to have known Joe and been able to take the trip with him over the time he has been fighting. His email updates were always factual and up beat. Once again as a group we have suffered a loss we can't replace. Mini on Joe! Steve (CTR)

It hurts to lose another friend.  Joe was at the MME in Tenn. in 2016 and gave me a ride in his Mini.  I have never been in a Mini that was revved so high and was so fast.  Joe was just driving as he normally did.  That is how I will remember him!  Blessing to him, Karen, and family.  Eric

SCUM #2. "Life is too short to own just one classic Mini!"

Yes, Joe was a great friend. He was always ready to help, provide tools, parts and expert help. He will sorely and surely be missed.
