Well learned a little more, based on the 59/60 website, body does not fit with that age, and based on glass dates the doors are 1st quarter 1960. Also have glass on one side from 4th 1966, and boot lid and lock. I have 62 glass, so if anyone needs some slide window 2 hole glass, I can take to MME

Nothing negative about judging the car, 1st mini for me, I have a lot to learn, just recently found out all the assorted noises, buzzes, and harmonics are normal. Hope to see you there 

Not trying to judge anything, just curious about the bodyshell because of the doors. Now, 997 Cooper...ah, my favorite Mini! Will love conversation with you about the car at MME.

Doc, title is 62, heritage cert says 62 997 Cooper, fair number of remaining bits seem to support that. Where would you have me look on the car? Going to MME, would be happy to be judged. 

Ok, title says 62. Common practice back in the day was to title foreign cars as the current year they sold, even if they sat on the lot a long time. Quite possible that it was a 1960 that didn't sell right away. I was just curious if it was one of the "light body" cars.

So, is your car a 59 or 60? If not, perhaps it had it's doors replaced or maybe even the entire car was reshelled. 59 & 60 Minis were lighter bodies than 61+ cars.

They are 59/60 doors and would have been fitted with a small flap over the hole.

I think what you found with the drain holes only indicates that your car is early.  The horizontal drains into the door gap pre-date the vertical drain tubes exiting the bottom of the door.  Are they better?  I don't know.

I think you will find that the door pocket stampings are symmetrical.  The two holes on the back of your door pocket would be on the "front" of the right door.  If I remember correctly, those holes are used to attach the hardware for the Mk1 door check straps.

Good day, I went to renew my door drain tubes, and found I did not have any. What I did find seems a much better method. Does this mean these are not typical US spec MK1 Doors? Question 2, what are the 2 holes for on the rear of the door pockets? The car is a 62 , but the doors are not original to the car. Trying to store as much obscure information in my head as possible before it starts going the other way.
