If this is the same cyl. head from another thread it stands to reason the rocker shaft assembly was raised to correct rocker angle. I posted early on in that thread that it looks like a 296 or 206 casting which had been surfaced quite a bit. Suggested cc ing the chambers and doing the math on compression ratio. The condition of the block surface and the head are sure to be factors after repeated failures. Steve (CTR)

No picture, but guessing that they are shims to correct valve train geometry when block has been decked or cylinder head has had a lot of metal removed to reduce chamber volume.

Hey guys doing a head gasket and just wondering what these little plates are and should I use them. Cannot find them in the manual. These are NOT the plates that sit over the rocker rail, these I found under it. Thinking this may be yet another contribution to our head gasket issues.
