Wellllll, it was sort of a jerk move. But not illegal. He supposedly didn't even know I was there. It is the passing car's (my) responsibility to make a clean pass in LeMons.
I didn't edit the clip. But what you didn't see before that is I had given that black bmw a point-by about 2 or 3 corners before, but then we were coming up on the slow red caddy (Count's Bloody Mess from Counting Cars tv show). It appeared to me the black bimmer was going around on the left so I was going to go around on the right.
We were doing probably over 70mph there and trying to hit 80-85 on a slight downhill and I was carrying still probably 16 or more gallons of fuel (100 lbs) so when I lifted and then jabbed the brakes, that's a lot of weight transfer forward at a high rate of speed. I didn't floor it while trying to recover, which I should have to try to get the weight to transfer back and also pull me out of trouble. I may have also clipped a whooptie-woo on the right that was marked/painted as a "don't hit me" part of the pavement.
In short, I screwed up. I should have just waited.

I've never been on a race track, but that looked like a jerk move from the dude in front... You were clearly in that space and he took it..

It looked to me the lumbering non-Mini closed the door on an inside pass.
Judging by the clock it was probably coffee-break time anyway.
+1 to what ssuperflyoldguy said "Keep posting the video's folks - some of us have to live vicariously thru the LeMon's folk..."
Especially those of us who haven't been able to drive our Minis in a long time. Soon....

I hope that didn't involve the Mercury wheel that I donated to the cause. That's a lesson in Mini cornering velocity- your inside run at the corner was cut off by some lumbering nonMini trying to apex a corner that you probably had a couple mph on most cars lap after lap for the entire race. I like the little clock on the dash. Keep posting the video's folks - some of us have to live vicariously thru the LeMon's folk... I did notice how much the field slowed down when you were sitting on the wall - bravo everyone.

I posted this in another thread, but I borked the link. Fixed it.
It felt like I was sitting there pointing the wrong way for a lot longer than what the video shows. I had my right hand out the window giving a thumbs up so the tower knew I was ok. Anyway, I waited and then was like, Well, if they aren't coming to get me I'll just drive myself off. I see, also in the vid, that the truck DID make a move to come get me. But I didn't see it over the wall.
After swapping out the right hand steering arm and bolts (bolts stretched a bunch!) we still had 2" of toe in. Just cranked the steering rack to even it out and went the rest of the weekend.
Well, until the lower arm pivot shaft nut backed out about 5 min from the checkered flag Sunday and sent the right bottom arm and wheel splaying out and the driver onto the track's shoulder.
