Hello.
Words of wisdom from the ones in the know.
I will not change a thing. I will repair the rubberized carpet and reinstall.
Unfortunately I think I will need to redo the 1965 Mini as it came with out any interior. I bought Newton carpet and it appeared that the carpet did get attached at the boot area. OOpppps. Me bad.
Oh boy! New winter project.
Thanks
Tim

It's not held down, and don't be tempted to use the gearlever boot and retaining plate to hold it down by installing them over the top - all you will do is allow water into the car through the carpet, and it will wick a very long way...

The carpet is not held in place by the boot shifter retainer. At no place would your carpet be held down to the floor in a manner that would make it difficult to remove...and don't set it up any differently.

Hello.
I pulled the carpet out of the 1967 Austin Cooper S. To my surprise, I find the carpet was NOT attached at the gear shift. Apparently it never was as there are no screw holes or any holes in the carpet at all. The gear shift boot is there, the boot retainer for attaching the rubber boot is there bolted to the steel floor. The horse hair pad is there laid on the floor and the carpet is laid on top. Is this right? I would have bet $$ that the carpet would have been attached and secured at the gear shift thru the boot retainer.
It just doesn't look finished this way.
I have been looking for a picture showing the factory assembly but can not find.
Thanks for the help
Tim
