The 1:00 to 2:00 o'clock position is where the dizzy rotor should point if the dizzy drive gear is in the correct position and the #1 piston is at/near TDC on its firing stroke.  That's a whole bunch of conditions to meet at one time.  Your 1:00 o'clock installation isn't carved in stone, it is associated with how the engine was put together and the way you time the engine.

This is a tuning question. What am I putting the distributor to the 1 o'clock position for??? Sorry for the basic question I just can't remember anymore.
