I'm not asking to do away with the annoying "feature". I'm asking for the ability to make it less annoying.

And as for this being the wave of the future, the Edsel was thought to be such. Need I say more?  nudge, nudge

I find it annoying. Seriously. I think the F is for facebook but the others I don't have a clue. For that and other reasons I spend less time here and usually buy my parts on the phone.

OK I can see how it would work for a Thai take-out with only 2 parking spots, but who'd drive to MiniMania on their lunch hour to pick up Mini parts? I'm sure they have lots of parking, too.

It is the way of the future I do agree (if you really need it) and so is "user experience considerations" I remember I did a User experience website college thesis project proposal to this Thai restaurant a few years back. 90% of their customers would use their phones from 10am to 1pm to order "to go" food and since the restaurant only have 2 parking spots open, they wanted people to come-pick up food-then go... they want to increase sales but couldn't provide
parking for everyone, customers get impatient with phone just kept ringing because they have not have one person to answer so I designed a website that is very easy to use with navigation reachable by your right thumb with easy to use buttons that goes straight to the menu with less clicks. So restaurant website generated a lot more in sales because their clients are finding it very easy to navigate through the site without any hassle and they spend less time to get what they want. So we generated a 35% decrease in "bounce rate" (number of times people will leave a site from landing page without clicking further) and we were able to restructure the site according to what the customers' in demand items and put those in priority. I proposed a Facebook, twitter and instagram navigation so people can always look them up and see what they have in store for "daily specials".

if Minimania is getting a lot of sales because of the share navigation then keep it but I'd pay attention on which social media app works. I'm always on my phone visiting this site and i do have a lot of improvements that I can suggest. I can live with the share bar though because the whole service is free for us to use.

If it has to stay it would help if when you clicked on the dismiss arrow it stayed that way instead as soon as you scroll down it re appears.

The sharebar shows 65 shares of the forum main page. I went through the (currently) top 15 threads and 14 out of 15 showed no ( 0 = zero ) shares. Only one thread had a single share, and I'd wager it was accidental because the share bar got in the way.

+1 to the annoyance factor.
Where did this "sharebar"come from, and who thought it was a good idea to add to to this discussion board? Other sites don't have it. I don't think it would actually get used much - I certainly will NEVER use it.
Sorry, Jemal, but I had to laugh at your "way of the future" comment... on a noticeboard very predominantly about cars that haven't been made in almost 30 years. (CB radios, anyone - they were once the way of the future.)
I vote for getting rid of it or at the very least giving us the option of turning it off in our profile preferences.
On my computer, it shows up as a side bar blocking posts it isn't showing up right now whohoo! On my tablet, it shows up full width with no way to even temporarily hide it. On my smart phone it is on the bottom again and cannot be hidden. It is even showing up in this text editor (on the tablet) , making it harder to post.

Lose it, PLEASE.

I hear you and share your irritation!  But it's the way of the future...  Still has ANYONE EVER 'tweeted' their utility company? My personal view is that we will tire of these constant distractions and they simply become invisible to us. I think there will be a backlash against the Amazons that seek to treat us all as a number and statistic to more efficiently sell us everything! I just hope we don't wait until all our local towns and businesses have evaporated in favor of these behemoths.

I got our marketing superstar Kelli to show me how to change the font or display size on my screen such that the bar doesn't overlap
the text.  That makes it less annoying at least, but now I can't read it from across the room....

Does anyone know anyone who follows there credit card company's facebook page?  Why do they bother having one?

I know I've read that I'm stuck having to see the annoying side bar that is there to entice me to share everything I see on this forum, but I seem to remember that I can at least move to the bottom of the window so it doesn't become so very annoying that I want to punch things.

How's that for a long sentence?

Anyway, any insight on this matter would be appreciated...
