Washington state. Not necessarily looking hard for a mini but if one came up at the right price I probably couldn't help myself...

Also ebay wont help because by the time you get the car the 30 days has past and you cant even leave any feedback on him.

I would be very careful, he has had a few cars taken or stopped in customs. Almost impossible to get your money back. I would not deal with him again. Find a car in the states or use an importer like the werewolf.
i have imported several cars in the past but customs is getting very picky, if they see one thing they dont like they wont let you have it. Just my 2 cents worth.

Hey, I won an ebay auction by this guy for a red '81 mini. Saw the price and thought why not. I haven't paid him a dime since I did my research and found this thread. Looks like I should avoid him completely?

spitz.. I am NOT one to forget FACTs.or dates... btw  any  lic car dealer has had some folks in the past  that are NOT happy  and I  have been trader/dealer  for 44 years..  , as most cars are bought SIGHT UNSEEN  back in the day. I demand sight inspection  NOW..   to eliminate any problems..  and  why bring up BS from TWENTY years ago?? 1963 are you Stoned  or just plain STUPIC??/  all I did on this thread was try to help a new classic mini owner get his FULL refund.. and I did this for FREE.. I am OUT of here.. later b c

Maybe the wolf is thinking of someone else...

"Everybody should own a MINI at some point, or you are incomplete as a human being" - James May

"WET COOPER", Partsguy1 (Terry Snell of Penticton BC ) - Could you send the money for the unpaid parts and court fees.
Ordered so by a Judge

I really genuinely am laughing out loud - one of my colleagues has just stared and asked what's so funny...

You must be confusing me with someone else, as I've never had a car seized, impounded, or confiscated, anywhere, ever, on either side of the Atlantic.

I thought the Hairlip surfaced around 2002, about the time I met Suzy.

Some of Bills previous customers have been shade unhappy with their purchases, and one of the more infamous ones was nicknamed the Hairlip (not harelip as that would be offensive) as the Mk2 bonnet on a Mk1 grille made it look like it had a moustache.
20 years is bit optimistic, more like 15, though it must be approaching 18 or 19 since Bill had his appointment with the tyre iron.

Mountain Minis "includes" shipping to the USA in his prices, which is why so many end up getting seized - one look at his stuff and it's obvious he's preying on the unknowledgable.

I wondered if the time limit Ebay poses for feedback was part of the answer to my question, and apparently it is.  If I were a purchaser, though, I'd still approach Ebay.  For one thing, Ebay is VERY unhappy when people use the site to advertise, but then complete the sale off-site, as you suggest this seller does.  That is against their terms, and they will pull selling privileges for it.  It's worth a shot, if for no other reason than that it might prevent others from being suckered in.  I still get a daily feed of new classics on Ebay, and was tempted by his listings before I found my car from a US seller.

I'm guessing your references to "1963" refer to someone else's comments, as that was not part of my post.  You guys seem to talk in code half the time, so it's sometimes hard for a newcomer to figure out what's going on!

Why should a seller be penalised because the purchaser later finds out that something the purchaser wants to do with the car is illegal in another country??

And I find Bill's outrage quite comical in light of his history ..

Remember the Alamo....sorry I meant the Harelip..
