Royal Fail is rarely the cheapest for anything these days - legacy pensions and cushy working practices have seen to that...
Privatisation has only made things worse as they now have to hand over large lumps of loot to the shareholders.

Took me about a year to find mine I used to call Mini City Mini Mania and seven all the time then one day someone had one on Mini Mania so I grabbed it. I think it was 450 back then. That was about 15 years ago and I'm pretty sure I've gotten my enjoyment out of it.

I've also ordered from Jon in the UK.  His FB page is here:  https://www.facebook.com/JBFabrication/

I last got from him the rally mirror mounts and rear fog lamp.  All really well done.  His racks look really nice and may decide to swap out my Pedro one, but I do like the brazilian wood slats on my modified Pedro rack.  I was not aware Pedro shut down his business.

Wait.... Postage to San Diego from England was 10 pounds?   You must have your own secret wormhole!!  I just sent a cylinder head core, a bare casting to my friends at MED and it cost $337 via FedEX "Economy" !!!!

I got mine from from Jon Betts from U.K. I sent him a spec size to carry two 10" wheels just like the popular mini Monte Carlo Rallye types. I paid about $300 and that's including shipping to San Diego, CA. The racks were made from scratch, (about a week in construction) powder coated English white and has two pairs of 2 lugnuts welded underneath each wheel lining up the wheels so you will bolt down the wheels for security and not use straps. It came with 4 braces and 4 black suction cups and we're done professionally. The welds are high quality and I've never had any issues. Packaging was really done professionally wrapped in thick bubble wrap. I requested mine to look sleek and low to the roof because the bulky ones I see online were goofy looking. Email me at [email protected] if you want his contact email. He also sold me: Seat bracket £29.50, Extended steering wheel drop £27.50, Set of roof rack brackets £15.00, Postage £10.00

I doubt you will find anything with this price for a custom brand new rack... even used ones will go for over $500 from my old inquiries from members here and outside.

What we've always been up against with these is the cost of shipping!  They are very cool and look so right on a Classic Mini, but most folks that justify the several hundred dollars for a nice rack can't stomach the several hundred additional dollars to ship it!   A huge obstacle for those that manufacture them too, unfortunately!

Sounds like an opportunity to make a "kit" that CAN be shipped reasonably?

You just reminded me of another Malcom, Brian Purvis (sp) in the UK makes works type racks.

He's very proud ($$$$) of his work.

Mr. Bridger's roof racks in the UK make some great racks.

Very nice MLM,  these is a very good example of out of the box modification, who wouldve thought that VW rack would fit and actually look nice on a classic mini?  With MLM's ingenuity , a little cut and weld here and there , he made it look nice.  MLM, experimented, discovered and he executed ,now he enjoys the roof rack you cant find anywhere else.... Good job!! Keep up the god
oood work., some people here are secretly taking down notes.

It seems Pedro's sold his business and is no longer making racks.
