Are they ARP studs or OE studs? Both have nuts that are correct for each. Both can be bought.

I'd say $400 is a good price and I think fair. Seeing as not many would use a S block for racing any longer I don't think there would be much value difference thick vs thin. I recently installed a thin flange S block in my street car. It was worn out at .060 so I bored it 73 mm detuned it and we will ride again. CTR

Scott my 1071 does have factory studs.

Could anyone tell me the difference in value between thin or thick flange 1275 S blocks? Have a thick flange that is std but needs to go .020 over. Also the original crank std std AEG 323 I think it is

Thanks

I recently paid $400 for 1275 's' block with caps. Std. bore, still has engine tag & '1275' tag. I thought that was a pretty good deal for what i've seen 's' blocks go for in recent years.

From a 1071 specialist

If you have an early 1071 block that is missing the special fitted bolts for the main caps ?

First thing to do is make sure that the caps are the originals off the block .
Do the caps have a number stamped on them beginning with a C ?
The same number should be stamped on the block , probably somewhere near the water pump.

Some very, very early blocks are not numbered .

If the numbers do not match , you have the wrong caps . This will be expensive to put right.

You can fit the later cooper s studs , we always use a new ARP set as most of the original one,s are very second hand now .

Put the stud in the lathe , clock up the location diameter DEAD TRUE .

Turn down to a slide fit in caps/block . The holes are not all the same size.

Face 0.180" of the ends of the 4 short studs , they will foul gearbox if you don,t

Don,t fit washers on assembly

You will probably need to have the block line honed , this should cost about $150.00

I never saw a 1071 with studs as all 1275's have.

Steve check your block for studs.

Two theories here

1)  He wants $1,000 or more for it.

2)  He wants to answer that same question but doesn't want to sell. (What's an 'S block worth?)

The studs are available from ARP

Being located in France probably isn't helping...

It's been fun, but this place is done. I have no hatred, and appreciate the good times. But this place now belongs to Tony and his pink mini.

You'd have to find someone who really wants a 1071 S block. I think mine has studs. Other than that it looks just like this one below the OP relief valve opening. Some people are crazy all you need are two crazy people and they can strike a deal.
