MG Rover halts production to clean up after Cat Logistics!

MG Rover halted auto production in the middle of last June (2002) in order to play parts catch up with dealer repair shops. Parts were drop shipped directly to the dealers who have been struggling with the recent  distributor change over. These problems have been going on since April when MG Rover swapped long-time distributor Unipart for Cat Logistics. An MG Rover spokesman commented on the subject. “There has been a combination of reasons,” he said. “A lot of supply or component firms have pared back a bit on investment in leaner times, and they have been caught on the back foot.” At one point, the spokesman did agree that the change from Unipart to Cat Logistics had played a major roll in the parts supply problem.
