Fitting chrome bumper trim saves $700
By:
My wife is delighted with the rear bumper trim I fitted today. She had several small dings and dents on the painted "bumper" and the quote for repair was $880. The mini mania trim fits beautifully and covers all of the damage. Actually it looks better with the new trim than it ever did! To fit it I used masking tape along the new bumper and marked the center point and where each slot was situated on to the tape. I then marked the center of existing "bumper" and transferred the tape to the mini body. Used a 3/32" drill to make holes at each end of the marks then cut slots between them with a Stanley knife. Note the holes need to be in the middle of the groove which defines the original "bumper" Pick out the plastic, offer up the chrome bumper, make small adjustments to slots then push the tabs into the slots. Perfect!
